Tesla announced that it will sell its Model III economy car for $35,000. That is half the price of the Model S which costs $70,000. The low-price point is going to be achieved mostly through economies of scale, and a large part of that depends on Tesla building its battery giga-factory, which will give Tesla the battery production capacity to support building all those Model IIIs.
